the student representatives (STV) and the tutors are going to conduct an info event regarding “Practical Phonetics and Oral Communication Skills 1″. Students attend this course after ILSS2 and acquire either British or American pronunciation.
Since it is one of the few courses that end with an oral exam and its grade is based mostly on pronunciation proficiency, we invite you to attend the event and receive help in your decision making process.
Structure and purpose:
Firstly, there is a theoretical part covering the course and language lab, explaining how these two are linked and structured.
Secondly, the practical part features a text read in both American and British pronunciation, pointing out the differences and making you aware of certain challenges you may face during your learning process.
Thirdly, we have a Q/A segment planned regarding any questions you may have.
Overall, the presentation is for you to have an idea of what you are supposed to sound like and be capable of at the end of PPOCS 1.
When and where:
Feel free to stop by (room 3, English Department, Tuesday, June 9th, 8 to 9:30 p.m.)
no registration required
We are looking forward to meeting you,
