As you probably know already, StEOP will undergo a significant change: As of Jan 1, 2016, it will be possible to repeat StEOP exams three times instead of two, meaning you get four tries all in all, just as in all other lecture exams.
However, before you rejoice in reckless abandon: If you fail a StEOP exam on the fourth try, you will be barred permanently from studying at the English department. So if in December 2015 this is your third time trying to pass the exams, please reconsider and wait until January or next semester to try! We’re not trying to discourage you here, mind. If you were to go to this (your third) sitting now in December and you receive a negative grade again, you will be barred from continuing your studies. If you wait for the next sitting (end of January), and you receive a negative grade then, you still get another try, so please keep that in mind.
There are two possible dates offered each semester for StEOP exams: December and January for each winter semester, and May and June for the summer term.
There might still be an addendum or two added to this change, so as soon as we know more details, we’ll let you know.
