Where are we?
The English department is located on campus (Altes AKH):
Campus der Universität Wien
Spitalgasse 2-4, Hof 8.3
The SSS, or Studien Service Stelle, is responsible for advice concerning the more formal parts of your studies as well as administrative issues. The office is located on the first floor of the department, to the right.
Opening hours during the winter semester 2015 are Mo – Fr: 10.00-11.00, Mo – Thu: 13.30-14.30. They can be reached via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
At the SSS you can get advice on recognition of exams, study plans, admission, swapping courses with another student and more in-depth advice concerning your studies.
They are responsible for handling registration for courses and exams as well, so if you run into trouble during registration, don’t hesitate to contact them.

Mag. Monika Wittmann (Erasmus and Non-EU exchange coordinator, Course recognitions within official UoV exchange programmes)
Mag. Iris Vukovics (recognition of exams (except courses from our current programmes of study or exchange programmes), advising students on course recognition)

The library services of the university will be an integral part of your studies. The main library as well as the department libraries regularly offer guided tours through the library and research workshops, usually at the beginning of the semester. This library is located at the main university building on the second floor. (Full address: Universitäts-Hauptgebäude, Stiege 2, 1. Stock, Universitätsring 1, 1010 Wien)
The English and American studies library (Fachbereichsbibliothek Anglistik) is located directly at the English department on the ground floor. Please note that the opening hours may differ from the main library and other department libraries.
Besides a wide range of books and magazines, the libraries also provide computers for your research.
You can use the homepage of the main library to search for literature online. Via the VPN network you can also download certain online ressources (articles, book reviews, etc.) from home. Note that you will need a u:account to log in. To do so, select “Universitaetsbibliothek” here and log in with your own Matrikelnummer (enrolment number) and password.
Opening Hours of the department
Usually the department will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday during the semester.
For the library opening hours, please see their respective homepage.
On weekends and public holidays, the department and the library remain closed.
The student lounge on the 1st floor of the department (first door to the left) is a room intended for quiet study, but it is also sometimes used for events or exams (please check the time table on the door before entering). There is also study material and corrected portfolios stored there so students can take their own corrected portfolios home. Please do not take any material that does not belong to you!
Lost and Found
In case you lose anything at the department, please ask at the SSS or the campus porter at Hof 4.1. (Tel. +43 1 4277 298 20), someone may have dropped your item off there.
